On the road to the West coast - Mildura

Welcome once again, to another episode of "On the Road". This time, we're heading east, not west - but either way we still pass through Houghton. You might like to compare the image below to the image from the previous blog.
We only left a couple of hours later than I had intended (but a couple of hours sooner than I expected). As a result, lunch was taken at Walker Flat, about an hour from home. We ate and drank and watched the free ferry that will shortly take us over to the south side of the great River Murray
On our way to Loxton we had some magnificent panoramas of the river winding its way through our state.
Coffee was taken in Loxton, to avoid having to detour into Renmark. Not long after, we crossed the border from SA into Victoria. I think we South Aussies are not too concerned about what people think as they leave the state, based on the condition of the sign.
Mind you, I don't think the Vics are too concerned about impressions either, based on their welcome sign.
We made our way though vast fields of fruit trees and grape vines, and arrived in Mildura. The image below shows the Uniting Church near our motel.
We settled into the Sandor Motor Inn, then went hunting for dinner. We ended up at the Mildura Working Mens Club, where we were welcomed pleasantly, and had a great feed, enough for a family of eight I should think.
Tomorrow morning, after the included breakfast. we'll take a little more of a walk around town, to follow the "Art Deco Walk". Hopefully some nice photos will result.
So, while today's plan was to reach Hay, we made Mildura. Tomorrow was to be Parkes, but I realistically expect somewhere around Griffith. Speak to you then.
